Early Life & Studies
Gleb Pyšniak, one of the most prominent cellists of his generation in the Baltic States, was born in 1987 in Vilnius. At the age of 14, he made his debut as a soloist with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra (conductor Professor Saulius Sondeckis) on the stage of the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society.
In 1998, he entered the Balys Dvarionas Music School in Vilnius where he studied in the cello class of Tatjana Kuc. He continued his studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with Professor Rimantas Armonas, earning his bachelor’s degree, and in 2015, he earned an MA cum laude from the Vienna Conservatory in the cello class of Professor Natalia Gutman, as well as a BA cum laude from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in chamber music.

Throughout his career, Gleb Pyšniak has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in prestigious venues including the Royal Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Vienna Musikverein, Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Rome Quirinal Palace, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Helsinki Musiikkitalo, Casa da Musica of Porto, Grand Salon des Invalides in Paris, Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Teatro Verdi in Pisa, Great Guild of Riga City, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Paul Recital Hall at Juilliard School in New York, and Chicago Cultural Centre.
He has collaborated with orchestras such as the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Porto, Symphony Orchestra of Kaunas, Moscow Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonietta Riga, St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Vidzeme Chamber Orchestra, Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra, and Camerata Ars Lituanica. Gleb has performed across Europe, China, and the USA.
Awards & Prizes
Gleb Pyšniak is a prize-winner of numerous national and international competitions, including the Karl Davydov IV International Cello Competition, VI Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition in Poreč (1st prize & special prize), August Dombrovskis VI International Competition (1st prize & special prize), the Lithuanian academy string instruments competition (1st prize, 2008), Grand Prix in the competition organized by the Society of Jews in Lithuania (2008), and the Yamaha Award (2010), among many others.
He has received awards and grants from the Monsignor Kazimieras Vasiliauskas Fund (2005), the President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus (2006), and President Gitanas Nausėda (2020). At the International Holland Music Sessions (2009), he was selected as New Master on Tour.
Teaching & Festivals
Since 2019, Gleb Pyšniak has been part of the teaching team at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Alongside his wife, violinist Dalia Dėdinskaitė, he co-direct several festivals, including the Kintai Music Festival, Joseph Achron Music Festival, and "Christmas in Vilnius" (“Kalėdinis Vilnius”) Festival.
